Aug 4, 2026 We refuse to accept a Europe that defaults to suspending fundamental human rights, threatening to shut down Schengen, or paying authoritarian regimes to act as our outsourced border police. Ceuta’s tragedy is not just Spain’s problem: it is a direct symptom of a deeply dysfunctional European migration system.Giorgia Meloni won elections by blaming Italy’s isolation during the Lampedusa migration crisis. And she had a point. However, while claiming to “defend European culture,” in the moment of crisis she shut the doors and left Spain alone. This proves that Meloni and politicians like her have never cared about protecting Europe – and we hope that those who voted for them out of fear of an invasion reconsider their trust. At the same time, we must address the irresponsible messaging from the Sánchez government. While recent attempts to host and legalize migrants might have been well-intentioned, probably no European leader can fully understand the daily despair of the people coming from the African continent and the lack of information and guidance that they face. What happened was a predictable consequence of good intentions, instrumentalised by online disinformation campaigns that vilified those seeking a better life. We must learn from what happened in Ceuta: to combat irregular migration, we must be humane with migrants and tough with the criminals who smuggle them. We must create legal routes of access to Europe and fight human trafficking. .u4435745a32fa4eb4adb90b13d1d9c950 , .u4435745a32fa4eb4adb90b13d1d9c950 .postImageUrl , .u4435745a32fa4eb4adb90b13d1d9c950 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u4435745a32fa4eb4adb90b13d1d9c950 , .u4435745a32fa4eb4adb90b13d1d9c950:hover , .u4435745a32fa4eb4adb90b13d1d9c950:visited , .u4435745a32fa4eb4adb90b13d1d9c950:active { border:0!important; } .u4435745a32fa4eb4adb90b13d1d9c950 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u4435745a32fa4eb4adb90b13d1d9c950 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #8E44AD; box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -moz-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -o-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -webkit-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); } .u4435745a32fa4eb4adb90b13d1d9c950:active , .u4435745a32fa4eb4adb90b13d1d9c950:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #8E44AD; } .u4435745a32fa4eb4adb90b13d1d9c950 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative; } .u4435745a32fa4eb4adb90b13d1d9c950 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #000000; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u4435745a32fa4eb4adb90b13d1d9c950 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u4435745a32fa4eb4adb90b13d1d9c950 .ctaButton { background-color: #9B59B6!important; color: #000000; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://cdn.shortpixel.ai/spai/q_lossy+ret_img+to_auto/www.bachhausen.de/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u4435745a32fa4eb4adb90b13d1d9c950:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #9B59B6!important; } .u4435745a32fa4eb4adb90b13d1d9c950 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left: 18px; top: 0; } .u4435745a32fa4eb4adb90b13d1d9c950 .u4435745a32fa4eb4adb90b13d1d9c950-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u4435745a32fa4eb4adb90b13d1d9c950:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } Auch interessant: Jetzt mitreden: Wie sollen unsere neuen Euro-Scheine aussehen?A Mandatory European Distribution MechanismWe cannot expect border cities like Ceuta to manage crises of this magnitude alone. We advocate for abolishing the first-entry country principle and activating a mandatory solidarity system for distributing migrants across all EU Member States, based on their respective GDP and population.Defend Schengen at All CostsClosing internal borders within the European Union is populism. Freedom of movement without borders within the Schengen area is one of the greatest achievements of the European project – EU citizens experience it on a daily basis. Volt strongly opposes internal border controls introduced by a number of Member States and views them as a violation of European law. The response to migratory pressure lies in community cooperation, local integration, and giving asylum seekers work authorization from day one.We Cannot Leave Spain Alone with the Maghreb RegimesThe current strategy of the European Union regarding border control and migrant readmission largely relies on cooperation agreements with Maghreb countries, such as Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria. In practice, the EU has “externalized” migration management, transforming the Maghreb region into an extension of European border policy.Volt firmly opposes the European Union’s practice of financing and delegating the control of migratory routes to North African countries. Using these countries as a border blockade has created a hostile environment in which migrants are stranded without protection and vulnerable to trafficking networks, physical abuse, and slavery. Often, these practices are backed by the regimes with which we make these agreements – and which we pay with European taxpayers’ money for enforcement. .u328148e7015829af636d28fc6ac6d58d , .u328148e7015829af636d28fc6ac6d58d .postImageUrl , .u328148e7015829af636d28fc6ac6d58d .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u328148e7015829af636d28fc6ac6d58d , .u328148e7015829af636d28fc6ac6d58d:hover , .u328148e7015829af636d28fc6ac6d58d:visited , .u328148e7015829af636d28fc6ac6d58d:active { border:0!important; } .u328148e7015829af636d28fc6ac6d58d .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u328148e7015829af636d28fc6ac6d58d { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #8E44AD; box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -moz-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -o-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -webkit-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); } .u328148e7015829af636d28fc6ac6d58d:active , .u328148e7015829af636d28fc6ac6d58d:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #8E44AD; } .u328148e7015829af636d28fc6ac6d58d .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative; } .u328148e7015829af636d28fc6ac6d58d .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #000000; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u328148e7015829af636d28fc6ac6d58d .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u328148e7015829af636d28fc6ac6d58d .ctaButton { background-color: #9B59B6!important; color: #000000; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://cdn.shortpixel.ai/spai/q_lossy+ret_img+to_auto/www.bachhausen.de/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u328148e7015829af636d28fc6ac6d58d:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #9B59B6!important; } .u328148e7015829af636d28fc6ac6d58d .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left: 18px; top: 0; } .u328148e7015829af636d28fc6ac6d58d .u328148e7015829af636d28fc6ac6d58d-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u328148e7015829af636d28fc6ac6d58d:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } Auch interessant: Volt Köln wird eigenständig: Neuer Kreisverband und Vorstand gewähltEnd of the “Bargaining Chip” LogicCurrent European policy attempts to incentivize partners, such as Morocco and Tunisia, to readmit irregular migrants in exchange for easier European visas.
